I hope you are fine this beautiful morning.

This week's blog is about a 'Colour Book' I created when I was a student many years ago. It was a record of inspirational images filled with unusual colour combinations. From these images, I experimented with colour mixing, colour matching & using unusual mixes of colours. 

I hope it inspires you to start your own colour book. I still collect images that inspire me through colour as it helps me in my Art work.

I've been busy in the studio, experimenting with acrylics, feathers, the female form, and mixed media & thoroughly enjoying myself. 

I'll post my new pieces on the blog next week as I'm hoping to continue creating more pieces this Jubilant January.

With Valentine's Day only 4 weeks off,  on Saturday 12th February A.S.K is holding a 'Valentine Paint Sip & pARTy ' from 1 - 4 pm. The afternoon is filled with painting hearts, listening to alternative love songs with a glass of prosecco and chocolate to top it all off.

The session is for everyone, whether you're single, attached, male, female, or gender-neutral ( I don't know what that means!!!).

All this fun for only £35.00.

Colour Book

I came across my colour book from when I was an Art student many years ago.

It is a record of colour inspirations, experiments &  ideas. It was part of the process which helped me in the final year of my degree.

I collected postcards, wrapping paper, birthday cards, magazine cuttings... all of them had an interesting colour combination, pattern, image or texture.

After glueing an image into my sketchbook I went on to colour mixing and painting part of the image as close to the original on the opposite page.

Using the imagery I then went on to mix different colours and used these.

It taught me to really look at colour and put together colour schemes I would never have thought of.
